[Gmod-tripal-devel] Updated Instructions to update to v1.0-rc

Stephen Ficklin-2
Hi All,

Now that Tripal is a full Drupal project they have changed the git path on us, so if you try to upgrade using the historical method it won't work.   I have updated the documentation on the Tripal.org website.  But below are some further instructions. There are two ways you can upgrade to v2.0-rc1.   You can:

1) Use the new Drupal managed release packages.   If you want to use the new Drupal packages, please follow these instructions:  http://tripal.info/documentation/upgrade_2.0a_to_2.0-rc.  Also, three of the Extension modules are also now available as Drupal managed packages.  You can update those following the same steps (remove old directory, issue drush pm-download and clear the cache).  These three modules are:  tripal_analysis_blast, tripal_analysis_kegg and tripal_analysis_interpro.

The advantage to using the Drupal managed releases is that when we have future updates to Tripal you can easily update Tripal just as you do any other Drupal module.  No more manual git pull commands.

2) Continue to use the GIT.  This is only necessary if you want to keep up to date with up-to-the-minute commits to the development branch.  You need to change the remote URL for the git repository.  So, inside the Tripal directory issue the following command:

git remote set-url http://git.drupal.org/project/tripal.git

If you do want to continue to use GIT but want the 7.x-2.0-rc1 official release then execute these commands:

git pull
git checkout 7.x-2.0-rc1

Manually upgrade your production database.
When you want reliability, choose Perforce
Perforce version control. Predictably reliable.
