Linking from feature to an external website

Henry
Hi,

I am attempting to link out from a feature by adding a menu item to the right-click function as described here:

http://gmod.org/wiki/JBrowse_Configuration_Guide#Customizing_Right-click_Context_Menus

The link will open an iframe or go to another page, however, the {name} token does not seem to work. Is this functionality overridden by WebApollo? If so, is there a way that a feature can link to another page using the name of the feature?

Thank you for your time,

Henry

I don't seem to have any trouble with this in a simple Apollo browser test. Example track:

      {
         "style" : {
            "className" : "feature"
         },
         "storeClass" : "JBrowse/Store/SeqFeature/NCList",
         "trackType" : null,
         "urlTemplate" : "tracks/MyTrack/{refseq}/trackData.json",
         "compress" : 0,
         "menuTemplate" : [
            {
              "label" : "Search for {name}",
              "action": "newWindow",
              "url": "http://google.com/?q={name}"
            }],
         "type" : "FeatureTrack",
         "label" : "MyTrack"
      }

Does that help? Can share your your configs if not?

Cheers,

-Colin

Re: Linking from feature to an external website

Thanks for your help! The problem was with the contig files. There was no "name" attribute. I used the "ID" attribute (which was present in the contig file) instead.

         "menuTemplate" : [
            {
              "label" : "Search for {ID}",
              "action": "newWindow",
              "url": "http://google.com/?q={ID}"
            }],

Thanks again for your help!
