Natural Diversity Documentation

Dave Clements, GMOD Help Desk-3
Hello all,

Now that the natural diversity module is nearing completion, I'm going to spend some time over the next two days trying to produce coherent documentation about it on the GMOD web site.  This will probably include an automatically generated list of table descriptions as shown on other Chado Module pages.  I'll update that part as the design finalizes.

The documentation will be at http://gmod.org/wiki/Chado_Natural_Diversity_Module (which right now is just a shell).  I'll mine the existing web pages and past email threads for material.  So, if your favorite piece of doc disappears in the next two days, don't panic. I've only moved it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Re: Natural Diversity Documentation

Bob MacCallum
Thanks for the documentation effort Dave.

We (VectorBase) and I think Rob Buels are keen to see some long-ish
term stability in the table names - with respect to dropping the nd_
prefix (or keeping it).  I guess w.r.t. the documentation it's the
same.

I notice also that "protocol" will clash with mage's table of the same name.

An alternative to renaming nd_assay -> experiment, might be "ndassay"?
 (and "ndprotocol") ???
Then remove the nd_ prefix where not needed.

Re: Natural Diversity Documentation

Dave Clements, GMOD Help Desk-3
Hi Bob,

I think the 'right' thing to do is to rationalize the MAGE and ND assay and protocol tables into a single set of tables.  However, I don't want to do that this month.  I like ndassay and ndprotocol as table names.
