New versions of GMOD in the Cloud and GMOD in a Box

Scott Cain

I am pleased to announce that there are new releases of GMOD in the Cloud (GitC) and GMOD in a Box (GiaB).  Both GitC and GiaB are images of Ubuntu operating systems with several GMOD software components preinstalled and configured, including Chado, WebApollo, Tripal, JBrowse and GBrowse.  GitC is an Amazon Web Services image and GiaB is a VirtualBox image.

In addition to updating the versions of WebApollo and JBrowse, this release of "GMOD in *" includes improvements to the GBrowse and JBrowse configurations (so that clicking on gene features will take you to the appropriate page in Tripal) as well as a tool to make setting up WebApollo with your own data easier.

For more information about either tool including where to get them and how to update from previous versions, see their wiki pages:

Questions about individual components can be directed to their mailing lists (which are all cc'ed here) and general questions about "GMOD in *" can be directed to the gmod-devel mailing list.

Thanks and happy computing!

PS: I'm working on a similar image in the iPlant Atmosphere environment--look for that to come out early in 2014.
