Re: [Gmod-gbrowse] Stress/Load Testing GBrowse

Nathan Weeks
I've used the Apache HTTP server benchmarking tool ("ab"), which is
part of a standard Apache installation, for benchmarking GBrowse 1.x.
I don't believe it handles AJAX, so it may be less useful for GBrowse
2. There is a fairly descriptive man page.

Re: [Gmod-gbrowse] Stress/Load Testing GBrowse

Premanand Achuthan
Thanks for the tip Nathan.  I did try "ab" and as you say, it doesn't
handle AJAX.  Same with httperf and JMeter.
I wanted to spawn the gbrowse child processes with by increasing the
concurrency gradually and test the load (preferably, automatically
through command line requests), but no luck so far.

Even if I increase the -c (concurrency) in ab to 100, it doesn't spawn
child processes.

Best Regards
Prem

One possible workaround is to pick out the XHR calls through firebug and
hit them through ab.

Gbrowse might serve it from the cache and i believe gbrowse forking
could also be configured from config file. You could tweak them and see
if that changes the behaviour.
