[biomart-users] downloading biomart

Angelle Bradford
Hello all,

I have downloaded BioMart using the terminal, but when I get to step 2  that says to run "ant"... that is not working at all. What do I do? Can someone provide an example?

Hi Angella,

It would help if you could please indicate which version of biomart? and what error you see following the ant build?

Re: [biomart-users] downloading biomart

Angelle Bradford
Hello!

Thank you for responding so quickly! It is BioMart version 0.9--the current version. I have installed BioMart, using Terminal on my Mac, onto the Desktop Directory. I press pwd, and I am in desktop, but when I enter "ant"... the terminal feedback/error message is as follows: "-bash: ant: command not found." See below for my full input.

"Owners-iMac:BioMart angellebradford$ pwd

/Users/angellebradford/Desktop/BioMart

Owners-iMac:BioMart angellebradford$ ant

-bash: ant: command not found"

Re: [biomart-users] downloading biomart

Angelle Bradford
Just as an update, I downloaded the Apache ant:
Now, I have the Apache Ant and the BioMart in the "downloads" directory, int their own respective folders. Nothing else is in that directory. Please see photos.

Re: [biomart-users] downloading biomart

Syed Haider-5
Hi Angelle,

You would need to compile biomart using "ant" as stated in the documentation. Perhaps worth approaching some tech support at your research centre to get the IT side of things sorted.

Best wishes,
Syed
